Stop associating me with Onana, says Super Eagles goalkeeper, Adeleye

Adebayo Adeleye, the Super Eagles goalkeeper, has made a request to the public to stop confusing him with Andre Onana, the goalkeeper for Manchester United and the Cameroon national team.
Currently preparing for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa, Adeleye shared his concerns in interviews about the frequent mix-up with Onana's identity.
"I want to take a moment to clarify an important issue about who I am. My name is Adebayo Adeleye, and I proudly represent Nigeria as a goalkeeper. Sadly, there are many who have called me Andre Onana, the famous Cameroonian goalkeeper," he explained.
He emphasized that, although he has great admiration for Onana, they are two separate players with different national backgrounds and career paths.
"I would appreciate it if the public could stop linking me to Andre Onana, as we are two unique individuals with distinct careers and nationalities. I am proud of being Adebayo Adeleye, a Nigerian, and I hope that my true identity is recognized and respected," he continued.
Having played for Nigeria’s senior team, Adeleye is currently active in Europe and is considered one of the country's promising goalkeeping talents.
Since joining Manchester United from Inter Milan in 2023, Andre Onana has faced challenges in his performance.
