The team’s camp in Abuja comprises some of the players that have helped the country pick the ticket to the 2025 U-20 World Cup in Chile and a few new players.
Nigeria are drawn in Group A alongside host nation Ghana and the Benin Republic, while Group B features Niger, Togo, Ivory Coast, and Burkina Faso. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals.
Hosts Ghana and Nigeria will face off in the first game of the tournament on Thursday, July 10 before the Flying Eagles face the Benin Republic three days later.
Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles still have their biggest test ahead of them this year, as they play in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, from September 27 to October 19.
Zubairu’s team picked the ticket with a third-place finish at the 2025 U-20 AFCON in Egypt, where they scored just four goals from open play.
