Luis Enrique believes the clash in the Club World Cup final could have been prevented.

Luis Enrique, the coach of Paris Saint-Germain, explained that he was “just trying to separate the players” after he became involved in a scuffle at the end of his team's 3-0 loss to Chelsea during the Club World Cup final on Sunday.
Video footage captured Luis Enrique appearing to raise his arm toward Joao Pedro, who had scored Chelsea’s third goal following two from Cole Palmer at the MetLife Stadium.
“There were moments of pushing and shoving, creating a lot of tension. This situation should have been avoided,” he shared with the media.
“My clear goal was simply to separate the players,” he added.
He recognized Chelsea as the deserving winners and encouraged his team to take advantage of a brief summer break following an impressive season.
The defeat prevented PSG from achieving a remarkable clean sweep of trophies, as they could not add the Club World Cup to the UEFA Champions League and the French league and cup titles they secured in May.
“Over the course of the match, they earned their victory. They performed exceptionally well,” Luis Enrique stated.
“I mentioned before the game that Chelsea was an excellent team, and they have earned their trophy,” he affirmed.
PSG's historic season, spanning 11 months and 65 matches, has concluded, and they now have exactly one month to prepare to return to the field in August, where they will compete for another trophy against Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Super Cup.
“It is important for us to enjoy our vacation, even though it’s going to be very brief. We need to make the most out of it,” he commented.
Thanks to PSG's success in this year's Champions League, they will have another chance at the Club World Cup when they participate in its next edition, scheduled for 2029.
"I believe this tournament started because there was a desire to determine the best team in the world. It has an engaging format, and I see its potential to evolve into a major competition," the Spaniard stated.
"Finding a spot for it in the current schedule is challenging, but I find the tournament intriguing. We had an opportunity to win, yet another team outperformed us in the final."
