“I Will Pay” – Captain Ndidi Takes Responsibility as Super Eagles Camp Faces Bonus Turmoil

Super Eagles leader, Wilfred Ndidi, has made a significant and historic promise to Nigeria’s national squad, vowing to take on the responsibility of clearing all outstanding match bonuses during the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, should the Federal Government not fulfill these obligations before the quarter-final match against Algeria scheduled for Saturday.
Ndidi’s involvement arises amid increasing unrest within the Super Eagles’ environment as reports have surfaced regarding unpaid bonuses from four games;
– the matches in the group stage against Tanzania,
– Tunisia and Uganda, and
– the victory in the round of 16 against Mozambique.
The midfielder from Leicester City made his comments following assurances from the Federal Government, through Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite, that payments would be expedited between Thursday and Friday.

Eager to maintain team coherence and concentration, Ndidi mentioned that he has been encouraging his fellow players to keep training and preparing for the match against Algeria, despite the ongoing financial concerns.
“I’ve been pushing the team to train and play the game vs Algeria. I’ve been doing this since the second game,” Ndidi said.
