Osimhen joins Galatasaray in record €75m deal from Napoli

Galatasaray, the champions of Turkey, have successfully secured the permanent transfer of Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen from Napoli for €75 million, creating a new record for transfers in Turkey.
The 26-year-old played a crucial role in helping Napoli claim the Serie A title in 2023. Last season, he was on loan with the Istanbul club, where he scored an impressive 26 goals in just 30 league appearances, leading them to their 25th Super Lig title.
Earlier this week, Osimhen's absence from Napoli’s pre-season training suggested that his transfer was close, with only minor details remaining to be finalized.
Although he returned to Italy with the champions, Osimhen was not included in coach Antonio Conte’s plans for the new season, which led Galatasaray to act quickly and secure his permanent transfer.
For several weeks, negotiations between the two clubs were ongoing, largely due to differences concerning the payment plan, but an agreement was finally achieved on Thursday.
This transfer fee is higher than any that has previously been paid by a Turkish team, making Osimhen the most expensive player ever signed by Galatasaray.
Following Osimhen’s departure, Napoli has strengthened their team by bringing in Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City.
