
Nigeria’s national power grid failed on Tuesday morning, marking the second incident this January 2026.
The initial grid failure this month took place just last Friday.
The most recent failure was verified by the Nigeria National Grid on X at approximately 10:53 am.
The message read simply: “Grid Collapse.”
A subsequent tweet indicated, “Restoration is in progress!”
As per statistics gathered from the Nigerian Independent System Operator, NISO, electricity production has dropped to zero megawatts.
The distribution companies impacted include Ikeja, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Benin, Eko, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Abuja, and Yola.
