Peter Obi is preparing to depart from the ADC- Kachikwu

Dumebi Kachikwu, the 2023 presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), asserts that Peter Obi is contemplating leaving the ADC.
In July, Obi, who is also the presidential candidate for the Labour Party in 2023, participated with other opposition leaders to establish the ADC as a coalition party aimed at opposing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Just two days following the coalition's launch, Obi declared his intention to run for president in 2027 while still maintaining his membership in the Labour Party.
However, Kachikwu is convinced that Obi will not be permitted to seek the presidency under the ADC banner. He argues that the ADC's framework is being tailored to support Atiku’s presidential ambitions.
During a discussion on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Kachikwu, who has accused several opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, of taking control of the party, suggested that Obi is ready to exit the coalition upon realizing that the ADC is orchestrated to benefit Atiku.
He remarked, “The entire ADC framework is designed for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Since I began alerting people to the situation, we’ve witnessed the developments within the coalition. Now, someone like Mr. Peter Obi recognizes that the entire coalition was intended for Atiku Abubakar. It seems he is seeking alternatives, and others with aspirations are coming to understand that this coalition is not what it seems; it is merely a vehicle for Atiku’s goals.”
Kachikwu maintained that the ADC will not serve Atiku's presidential aspirations, stressing that the 2027 election will not allow what he describes as ‘class exploitation’ by political leaders.
He pledged to empower citizens by educating them about their political influence and rights.
