The Kano State Government announced that it has welcomed more than one hundred individuals from the All Progressives Congress in Tarai, located in the Kibiya Local Government Area, into the New Nigeria People’s Party.
Among the defectors was a female leader from the APC, who was received by Adamu Kibiya, the Kano State Commissioner for the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
This information was shared in a statement released by Balarabe Kiru, the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, on Wednesday in Kano.
According to the statement, “Kano State’s Commissioner for the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, has welcomed more than a hundred APC supporters from Tarai in Kibiya Local Government Area with the party's female leader who has transitioned to NNPP.”
Kiru mentioned that the group, led by APC's woman leader, Hajiya Sabuwa Tarai, referred to the developmental initiatives and programs implemented by Gov. Yusuf's administration as their motivation for switching to NNPP.
Tarai expressed, “We are impressed by the various projects carried out by Gov. Yusuf at both the local and state levels.”
The commissioner promised the newcomers fair treatment and extended a warm welcome to them as part of the NNPP family, encouraging them to collaborate for the advancement of the party.
Additionally, Hajiya Bintoto, the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Women Enlightenment, congratulated the new members, assuring them that they would find a supportive environment in the NNPP to contribute effectively.
Earlier, Sabo Abdullahi, the NNPP Chairman of Kibiya Local Government Area, expressed his pleasure at witnessing the influx of people into the party, attributing it to the commendable efforts of His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf in enhancing the state.
In other news, PUNCH Online reported last week that around 650 individuals from the NNPP crossed over to the APC in Gobirawa Ward, Dala Local Government Area, along with parts of Fagge and Ungoggo Local Government Areas in Kano State.
The defectors, who arrived in groups under different leaderships, were greeted by Rabiu Bichi, the Managing Director of the Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority.
