Three teams from the English Premier League have made it to the finals of all three major UEFA tournaments in a single season for the first time ever.
Naija News reports that Arsenal has secured their spot in the UEFA Champions League final following a 2-1 aggregate victory against Atletico Madrid. The London club will go up against Paris Saint-Germain in the final scheduled in Budapest, Hungary, on May 30.
On Thursday, May 7, Aston Villa clinched their position in the UEFA Europa League final by overcoming an initial deficit to defeat fellow Premier League team, Nottingham Forest, with a 4-1 aggregate score. Aston Villa will face SC Freiburg in Istanbul, Turkey, on May 20.
Crystal Palace also advanced to the UEFA Europa Conference League final after defeating the Ukrainian club, Shakhtar Donetsk, with a 5-2 aggregate score. The Premier League team will compete against Rayo Vallecano in Leipzig, Germany, on May 27.
This milestone signifies the first instance of English Premier League teams reaching the finals of the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League within the same season. The Conference League was launched in 2021, establishing a three-tier framework for European club competitions.
In the previous season, Chelsea triumphed in the Europa Conference League, and Tottenham Hotspur secured the Europa League title, while Arsenal was eliminated during the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
