Mercedes-Benz Files Complaint Over Alleged Unpaid Car Lease Linked To Victor Osimhen

German automotive giant Mercedes-Benz has allegedly lodged a complaint with the Carabinieri, accusing Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen of not fulfilling his financial obligations regarding a leased automobile.
Victor Osimhen continues to be regarded as one of the most formidable strikers in global football, having excelled in leagues across Belgium, France, Italy, and Turkey. His peak performances occurred in both Serie A and the SĂĽper Lig, where he secured championship titles with Napoli and Galatasaray.
Over his four-year tenure in Naples, Osimhen guided Napoli to their first Scudetto in almost 40 years, establishing himself among the club’s contemporary icons. His later transfer to Galatasaray last summer was accompanied by a groundbreaking financial deal, making him the highest-earning player in the history of Turkey’s top league.
The forward is said to earn upwards of €20 million annually, a compensation that aligns with his extravagant way of living and philanthropic gestures. Just the previous weekend, he financed a trip for Nigerian fans to Istanbul for the derby against Fenerbahce, where he netted a goal in a decisive 3-0 victory.
However, recent reports from the Italian source Napolista indicate that the striker is currently confronted with a legal issue. The report states that Mercedes-Benz informed authorities about an unpaid debt related to a vehicle leased in 2023. The company claims that the purchase was never finalized and that the automobile has not been returned.
The allegation implies that the 27-year-old has accrued a debt of approximately €90,000, equivalent to around ₦142 million. This amount seems quite small compared to his weekly wages, which have increased significantly following his title-winning season in Italy.
Osimhen is recognized for his affinity for luxury, recently showcasing a collection that features automobiles from Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, along with a Mercedes-Benz which is believed to be the subject of this controversy.
As of the time this report was written, representatives have not yet made any public statements regarding the situation.
