2027: ADC will dislodge APC – Aregbesola
The African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by Interim National Secretary and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, has announced that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is likely to be defeated in the 2027 general elections if the opposition groups can come together on a single platform.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by Interim National Secretary and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, has announced that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is likely to be defeated in the 2027 general elections if the opposition groups can come together on a single platform.
During a meeting with party members in the capital of Ondo State, Akure, Aregbesola expressed that the ADC is forming a broad alliance of progressive Nigerians to take on President Bola Tinubu’s government.
He urged everyone to set aside personal agendas for the sake of unity, emphasizing that with collaboration, they can overcome the challenges posed by multiple upcoming elections, including presidential, National Assembly, and state elections.
Aregbesola noted that prominent opposition leaders, such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, have shown their support for the ADC's coalition efforts to revitalize Nigeria.
He warned attendees to be prepared for targeted propaganda from the APC, aimed at undermining their movement. He encouraged party members to stay focused and not let misleading narratives or divisions distract them.
At the same meeting, Hon. Gbenga Edema, who previously ran for governor with the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Ondo State, criticized the APC for creating propaganda to undermine the ADC-led coalition's legitimacy and unity.
“These court cases being publicized are just diversions. They do not impact our political efforts,” Edema stated, praising Aregbesola for clarifying both internal and national matters during the discussion.
Hon. Akin Akinbobola, a former top member of the APC and ex-Special Assistant to Governor Olusegun Mimiko, lamented the country’s current situation and called for all progressive forces to unite in the coalition to “save Nigeria from crisis.”
“Everyday Nigerians face distress due to insecurity, hunger, and deteriorating infrastructure. The ADC seeks to restore hope through unity and necessary reforms,” Akinbobola remarked.
He also shared that the coalition is gaining momentum, with over ten political parties already involved in recent strategic discussions.
