Atiku's aide states that the delegates will resolve the conflict between Atiku, Obi, and Amaechi regarding the ADC ticket.
Paul Ibe, the spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, stated that the disagreements among key opposition figures in the coalition-supported African Democratic Congress (ADC) regarding the party’s presidential nomination for 2027 will be resolved by the delegates.

Paul Ibe, the spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, stated that the disagreements among key opposition figures in the coalition-supported African Democratic Congress (ADC) regarding the party’s presidential nomination for 2027 will be resolved by the delegates.
During an interview with Trust TV, Ibe mentioned that the party leaders had already come to a consensus on the importance of making compromises before forming the coalition.
Recently, a group of opposition politicians, including the former Vice President, announced a coalition aimed at replacing President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Shortly after this announcement, Peter Obi and Amaechi expressed their intention to run for president as candidates.
Atiku, who has previously run for president six times, is also rumored to be interested in another attempt using the ADC platform.
This situation has raised concerns about potential conflict within the party, as the supporters of each candidate aspire to see their preferred choice become the presidential nominee.
Nonetheless, Ibe has minimized the idea of conflict, arguing that it’s mainly the supporters who are “jostling for space.”
He explained, “In the end, it is democracy that prevails regarding what Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Amaechi say. The fate of these leaders will be determined by the delegates of the party, be it through a direct or indirect primary. Any disputes among them will be resolved by the delegates.”
When questioned about the disputes within a coalition formed on an “understanding,” he remarked that this is simply a part of democracy.
“Perhaps the current political environment, influenced by Tinubu and his administration, has led us to overlook the true meaning of democracy. People should have the ability to choose freely without being pushed into a one-party system,” Ibe concluded.
