World Cup Ticket Prices Crash After USA, Cristiano Ronaldo Exit
Ticket costs for the FIFA World Cup quarter-final scheduled for Friday in Los Angeles have significantly decreased following the knockout of the United States and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal from the competition.

Ticket costs for the FIFA World Cup quarter-final scheduled for Friday in Los Angeles have significantly decreased following the knockout of the United States and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal from the competition.
A report by Forbes indicates that the lowest resale prices for the game fell by nearly 60 percent after the Round of 16 matches took place on Monday. In the secondary marketplace TickPick, prices dropped from $2,950 to approximately $1,200.
This substantial drop in prices occurred after Belgium defeated the United States 4-1 in Seattle, eliminating any chance of a home team reaching the quarter-finals.
Portugal also exited the tournament after losing 1-0 to Spain in Arlington, Texas. This outcome marked the conclusion of Ronaldo’s World Cup journey and removed one of the event's major attractions from the LA match.
Forbes noted that the departures of both the host nation and Portugal greatly affected demand.
“Spain's victory over Portugal 1-0 on Monday concluded Cristiano Ronaldo’s World Cup journey, significantly diminishing the star power associated with the quarter-final in Los Angeles, which likely would have commanded much higher ticket prices if the U.S. and Portugal had competed,” the report stated.
The report further mentioned that average resale prices for all World Cup quarter-finals have declined by 31.5 percent in just one day and have fallen by 50.4 percent in the preceding three days, according to the ticket marketplace SeatPick.
SeatPick also highlighted that the number of tickets up for sale on secondary markets has risen to 49,415 from an initial 28,285 at the tournament’s outset.
Among the quarter-final matches, the upcoming game on Thursday between France and Morocco in Foxborough, Massachusetts, is currently the least expensive, with resale tickets starting at $989, as reported by TickPick.
Nevertheless, even with the decrease in prices for the quarter-finals, interest in the World Cup final remains robust.
Forbes indicated that the lowest resale ticket for the final set for July 19 in New Jersey stood at $9,346 as of Tuesday, although this amount is anticipated to fluctuate based on which teams qualify.
The report also mentioned that the 2026 FIFA World Cup has become the costliest edition in the history of the tournament, with ticket prices soaring to levels significantly higher than those observed in past World Cups.
