Suspected Boko Haram Terrorists Attack Niger Police Camp, Kill Officers
Terrorists believed to be part of the Boko Haram faction led by Sadiku have taken the lives of two mobile police officers and left another injured following an assault on a police camp in Niger State.

Terrorists believed to be part of the Boko Haram faction led by Sadiku have taken the lives of two mobile police officers and left another injured following an assault on a police camp in Niger State.
According to Naija News, the incident took place in Papiri, a village where over 300 individuals, including students and staff from St Maryâs Catholic School, were kidnapped in November 2025.
As reported by PremiumTimes, sources such as security personnel and local officials indicated that the assailants attacked the police camp in the early morning on Wednesday.
A community leader commented on the situation, noting that the assault commenced while many locals were still in their beds.
He mentioned, âIt happened around 4:30 am. Most people were still asleep when the loud gunfire startled everyone awake.â
One mobile police officer who was present during the assault recounted that the attackers arrived in significant numbers and encircled the camp.
He detailed that the officers fought back against the intruders during the onslaught, mentioning that approximately five of the assailants were eliminated.
The officer added, âWe engaged them and managed to kill about five of them. Sadly, we lost two officers, and one sustained an arm injury.â
He explained that additional police personnel have been dispatched to the area to enhance security measures.
Nevertheless, locals reported that the threat of further violence had prompted numerous families to escape Papiri and find safety in nearby villages.
A resident from an adjacent village, Idris Alhaji, stated that many who fled Papiri have taken refuge in the surrounding areas since the attack occurred.
He noted that many âpeople from Papiri have been staying in our community since the event took place.â
The village leader verified that he had relocated his family from Papiri due to the assault.
Residents shared that the recent event had reignited concerns in the region, particularly as Papiri had previously experienced a large-scale abduction involving those from St Maryâs Catholic School.
Naija News indicates that the Sadiku-led Boko Haram group has been associated with ongoing assaults on communities around the Kainji Lake National Park, which spans across Niger and Kwara states.
Prior to its activities in the Kainji region, the faction allegedly functioned for several years in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, where it conducted attacks, recruited locals, and abducted women and children.
The group's actions in Shiroro created a significant humanitarian emergency, causing widespread displacement and forcing residents to flee their homes.
According to security sources, the faction has started to replicate its previous tactics in its new location around the Kainji region.
Currently, it is reported that the group is holding over 150 women and children kidnapped from places like Woro in Kwara State, as well as Kasuwan Daji and Konkoso in Niger State.
This faction has also been accused of laying improvised explosive devices on rural roads, targeting travelers, merchants, and residents commuting between different areas.
Recent attacks using explosives have reportedly claimed the lives of at least five locals and have damaged a vital bridge that connects various communities with local markets and those at the border between Nigeria and Benin Republic.
Intelligence officials reported that the Sadiku group currently functions within the same broad region as Ansaru militants and various jihadist factions from the Sahel that have recently breached the area.
