Wike affirms that Governor Fubara is prepared to return to Rivers, saying, "I spoke with him yesterday."
The Minister for the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has confirmed that Governor Sim Fubara is prepared to return to Rivers State after the cancellation of the six-month emergency rule that was enforced in the region.

The Minister for the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has confirmed that Governor Sim Fubara is prepared to return to Rivers State after the cancellation of the six-month emergency rule that was enforced in the region.
In March, President Bola Tinubu enacted a suspension on Fubara, his deputy, Mrs. Ngozi Odu, and the state House of Assembly due to an ongoing political crisis involving the governor and his predecessor.
Fubara was not present in the country when President Tinubu lifted the emergency rule on Wednesday.
In an interview with Channels Television on Thursday, Wike mentioned that he has communicated with Fubara, who is prepared to return to the country and resume his duties.
Wike also expressed that he has reconciled with Fubara, stating that there is no longer any discord between him and his successor.
He remarked, “I have already stated that we’ve been in contact. I cannot engage with someone I hold a grudge against. The past is behind us. I do not belong to the group of politicians who make inconsistent statements. Progress is necessary.
“Regrettably, certain individuals resist the idea of peace. Today, I observed some individuals misrepresenting the law, alleging wrongdoing in the organization of local government elections. However, I ask them: what actions did they take to prevent such misconduct initially? When they echo their complaints loudly, you might assume they possess solutions, but they do nothing other than instigate turmoil. The president has made significant contributions for us, and tranquility has been reestablished.”
Wike stated that the people of Rivers are pleased with Tinubu’s decision to impose emergency rule in the state.
The FCT Minister praised Tinubu for this action, asserting that “the sole means of ensuring tranquility was to invoke a state of emergency.”
