The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has instructed its members to step down from their affiliations with other political parties, although no specific deadline for this action has been provided.
Bolaji Abdullahi, serving as the party's National Publicity Secretary, shared this information with reporters in Abuja on Thursday following a gathering of prominent party leaders and politicians.
"While a definitive directive has been issued for all members to terminate their memberships with other parties, the caucus did not specify any timeline," Abdullahi mentioned.
The caucus also confirmed that all matters relating to the African Democratic Association (ADA) have been resolved.
Abdullahi stated, "The Coalition has concluded all aspects concerning the ADA, indicating they are not pursuing the registration of the association or any related matters."
Regarding the upcoming 2027 elections, Abdullahi indicated that the party’s presidential candidates have reached a consensus to support the individual who wins the primaries.
"All presidential candidates have committed to backing the victor of the primary election," he explained.
He added that the National Working Committee (NWC) will soon reveal the dates for the primaries in Osun and Ekiti in preparation for the off-cycle gubernatorial elections taking place in both states.
Attendees of the meeting included National Chairman David Mark; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; National Secretary Ogbeni Rauf; ex-Kaduna State governor Mallam Nasir el-Rufai; former Sokoto State governor Senator Aminu Tambuwal; and ex-Rivers State governor Chibuike Amaechi.
Peter Obi, the National Leader of the Labour Party, was not present but conveyed his apologies and reiterated his dedication to the coalition.
