Gov Oyebanji sacks commissioners, retains key officials in major cabinet shake-up

Ado-Ekiti—The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has made the immediate decision to dissolve the State Executive Council.
In a statement shared with journalists in Ado-Ekiti late Sunday night by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, the Governor instructed the Commissioners and Special Advisers affected by this change to transfer their responsibilities to the Permanent Secretary or the highest-ranking civil servant in their ministries.
Governor Oyebanji expressed his gratitude to the members of the State Executive Council who are leaving and wished them well in their future pursuits.
Certain officials were not included in this dissolution. These include the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, the Commissioner for Education, the Commissioner for Works, and the Commissioner for Trade, Investment, Industry, and Cooperatives.
Additionally, the Special Advisers for Special Education and Social Inclusion, and Lands, Survey and e-GIS were also kept on duty.
Remaining in the state executive council are the Director General of the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD), the Director General for SDGs and Project Monitoring, and the Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).
While the reasons for this action were not clearly explained, it may be related to the upcoming gubernatorial primaries set for October 2, 2025.
