Nigerian artist Omah Lay has expressed his views on camaraderie and mentalities within the nation's music industry, indicating that numerous individuals involved carry significant egos.
According to reports from Naija News, he shared these insights during a recent session on the Nando Leaks podcast, where he discussed his character and its impact on his interactions.
He mentioned that he perceives himself as unique and does not seek validation from others, which influences the way he interacts socially.
The artist revealed that he maintains only a handful of friends, preferring to be near those who genuinely grasp his perspective and ambitions.
He conveyed that he is not inclined to socialize with large groups, as he favors a close-knit circle of individuals who are ready to connect with him on a more profound level.
While he identified as tranquil and approachable, he acknowledged that he possesses a strong self-identity, which can sometimes complicate the formation of new friendships.
He emphasized that this mindset is prevalent in the Nigerian music industry, where numerous performers and professionals often exhibit a sense of pride.
Omah Lay also recognized how this characteristic could hinder progress and mentioned that he consciously works on remaining humble so that it does not obstruct his path.
He stated: “I have a rather unusual character; I see myself as that person, so I don’t have many friends. I don’t engage with numerous people, just a select few, and these individuals endeavor to enter my world and comprehend my direction.
“The Nigerian music industry is saturated with egos. I am a laid-back person, yet I possess a considerable ego. It makes developing friendships challenging.”
