Naira Marley said there was no justification for my arrest regarding Mohbad's death.
After two years of being cancelled by the court of public opinion, Naira Marley has now posted a tell-all video to explain his side of the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s untimely demise and the backlash he received since.

After being sidelined by public opinion for two years, Naira Marley has released a revealing video to share his perspective on the controversy related to Mohbad’s tragic passing and the criticism he faced since then.
Describing that fateful day in September 2023, he expressed his utter shock and disbelief upon receiving the heartbreaking news.
Someone mentioned that Mohbad had passed away, and I thought it couldn't be true. It seemed like a trick to get attention for him again. I warned others to be cautious about what they claim. I saw reports stating he died due to an ear infection, and I immediately suspected they were false.
The artist noted that, although he was not in Nigeria when Mohbad died, the online accusations quickly turned towards him.
Out of nowhere, I found myself trending on Twitter as people began sharing clips from the NDLEA incident that same year. Old videos of a 2022 fight with his manager resurfaced. I wasn’t even in the country—how could I be accountable? I can provide proof of my passport stamps showing when I returned to Nigeria. With all the blame directed at me, I didn’t even have a chance to properly grieve his loss.
Naira Marley further expressed confusion over why the police arrested him, claiming the investigation should have focused on those who were close to Mohbad during the critical hours before his death.
In a rational society, the police would have detained everyone who was with him in the 24 to 48 hours leading up to his death. They had no grounds to arrest me. I still don’t get it since I wasn’t even in the country. Old footage resurfacing of him with Sam Larry was also troubling, especially since Sam Larry was out of the country at that time.
I returned to Nigeria to assist with the investigation, as people were wrongly accusing me, hoping to clarify that I had no involvement. Upon my arrival, I spent two months in detention, and they retained my passport without justification in a country where things work.
Mohbad, whose full name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, passed away on September 12, 2023, igniting protests, anger, and demands for accountability throughout Nigeria and beyond. Official reports indicated that his death was linked to complications from an injection given by an auxiliary nurse, yet details around it remain highly contested.
