Funke Akindele Reveals Extreme Sacrifices Behind ₦2.7 Billion Movie Success

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has revealed the sacrifices she made for her new film, Behind The Scenes.

She shared that she dedicated herself to her work, neglected her hair, did not attend social gatherings, and refrained from visiting friends and acquaintances.

News reports that she revealed this during a guest appearance on Bella Naija.

She mentioned that the film, which has earned ₦2.7 billion, kept her extremely occupied.

Akindele emphasized that she was heavily involved in her work, devoted her time to it, and now reaps the benefits of her efforts. The filmmaker noted that achieving this required tremendous sacrifice, countless sleepless nights, forgetting to eat, and giving everything she had.

“What distinguishes my success is the immense amount of effort I put in. When I refer to 'a lot of work,' I mean committing fully. I set aside my personal needs for my work; I didn’t even do my hair except for important events like the red carpet. I avoided parties and stopped visiting people at home; I left everything behind. I am completely immersed in my work; I have sacrificed my time for it. Now that I can relax, I’m taking care of myself and doing skincare. It involved significant sacrifice, sleepless nights, neglecting meals, and giving my absolute best,” she expressed.

In an Instagram update, Akindele outlined some steps she took to realize her aspirations. She explained that her path did not begin overnight; it involved learning, praying, and making the choice to reevaluate, strategize, and implement anew.
