Dangote has announced that within just 50 days, its refinery has shipped out one million tonnes of petrol.

The Dangote oil refinery has initiated the export of Premium Motor Spirit to various countries globally.
On Tuesday, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the president of the Dangote Group, shared this information during the Global Commodity Insights Conference focused on West African Refined Fuel Markets. This event was organized by NMDPRA in collaboration with S&P Global Insights.
He mentioned that the refinery successfully exported approximately 1 million tonnes of petrol from June to July 2025.
“Nigeria has truly transformed into a net exporter of refined products. Before I took this stage, I inquired with my team about the total tonnes of PMS we’ve exported. From the start of June until now, we've exported around 1 million tonnes of PMS in just the last 50 days,” he stated.
Dangote’s remarks come as there are concerns regarding the refinery's ability to satisfy local petrol demand.
While Dangote is exporting PMS, other companies are still importing petrol into Nigeria.
Furthermore, Dangote has also commenced the export of aviation fuel to regions like Europe and Saudi Arabia.
In the cement sector, he indicated that the Dangote Group aims to export $500 million worth of cement and clinker by 2027, indicating similar ambitions in the petroleum refining industry.
