Sunbeth to Launch 70,000 MT Cocoa, 80,000 MT Cashew Processing Plants in March 2027

The two new facilities will cater to important global markets, greatly enhancing Africa's export capabilities.
A prominent agro-commodity exporter from Nigeria is moving forward with plans for a cocoa processing plant with a capacity of 70,000 metric tonnes and a facility for processing 80,000 metric tonnes of cashews, highlighting a strong strategy focused on value-added agro-processing across the continent.
Sunbeth Global Concepts Ltd, recognized as one of Nigeria's largest cocoa exporters, has revealed intentions to construct a cocoa processing unit with a capacity of 70,000 metric tonnes alongside an 80,000 metric tonnes cashew processing facility, both presently in the building phase. This initiative is part of a long-term plan aimed at enhancing local value addition within Africa's agricultural supply chains. Mr. Olasunkanmi Owoyemi, the Managing Director, made this declaration during the Africa Cocoa Finance and Investment Forum (ACFIF) hosted at the London Stock Exchange. The inauguration of the facility is anticipated for March 2027.
This dual investment exemplifies Sunbeth’s dedication to expanding large-scale agro-processing capabilities in two of Africa's vital export sectors. The Managing Director indicated that Sunbeth has transitioned from a trading company to an integrated processor, a development aimed at maximizing value, generating sustainable jobs, and enhancing operational effectiveness. The cocoa processing unit will strengthen Nigeria's role within the global cocoa processing sector, while the cashew plant will cater to the rising demand in West Africa and supply premium markets in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Sunbeth's choice to invest in advanced, custom-built processing facilities signifies a significant transformation in Africa’s agricultural supply chain. The organization is dedicated to establishing state-of-the-art processing plants, reflecting its belief that ambitious global standards necessitate corresponding top-quality infrastructure.
Transitioning from a domestic trading business less than ten years ago to one of Nigeria's and Africa's leading cocoa exporters, Sunbeth is now advancing to the next stage of its corporate evolution: large-scale processing.
“Advancing in this industry requires more than merely increasing capacity. A cocoa processing facility with a 70,000-metric tonne capacity is only effective if there is a supply chain in place to support it. Vertical integration is essential; it forms the bedrock of a sustainable business model. The processing endeavor demands considerable dedication from us — we need to engage in backward integration by nurturing the crops necessary for our operations, and we have to invest significantly in our supply chain by equipping farmers with education, technology, financing options, and logistics to boost productivity and ensure the sustainability of our facilities,” stated Mr. Olasunkanmi Owoyemi, Managing Director of Sunbeth Global Concepts Ltd.
The announcements regarding the processing plants are integral to a broader vertical integration strategy. Through its Orange Cocoa Sustainability Framework, the company is investing in top-notch quality control systems, training programs for farmers, and strategic collaborations aimed at enhancing cocoa yields and raising quality standards at the farm level. Sunbeth’s methodology is founded on the belief that sustainable processing capacity must be supported by a dependable, high-quality domestic supply chain — one that the company is committed to establishing itself.
Sunbeth is presently active in Nigeria, Ghana, and Cameroon — which are three of the key cocoa-producing countries in West Africa. The organization has also set up offices in London, Dubai, and New York to enhance its reach to global markets, international expertise, and varied trade finance systems. This blend of deep roots in Africa and an expanding international footprint enables Sunbeth to harvest value throughout the entire cocoa supply chain, from harvesting to the final product.
As they look toward the year 2050, the management of Sunbeth foresees an Africa that will not only generate the majority of the globe's cocoa and cashew but will also be involved in their processing, trading, and obtaining the full economic advantages of these resources. The company's ongoing investment in processing facilities, research initiatives, vertical integration, and access to global markets has been intentionally structured to establish the foundation for that envisioned future.
