Bauchi APC governorship candidate sacks campaign coordinators in 20 LGAs

This change was communicated through a statement released on Thursday by the M.A. Strategy Committee and was signed by its Media Head, Umar Ibrahim Sade, who previously served as the Information Commissioner.
While the committee did not elaborate on the reasoning behind this choice, it instructed all impacted coordinators to cease activities in their respective local government areas until further instructions are provided.
Additionally, the statement required these coordinators to return all campaign-related materials, documentation, and other possessions in their keeping to the committeeās secretariat no later than July 16, 2026.
The committee praised the coordinators, ward mobilizers, and volunteers for their invaluable contributions to the political cause, recognizing the significance of their efforts across the 323 wards of Bauchi State.
It promised supporters that a new phase of political activities would be launched shortly, stating that the specifics of the forthcoming steps would be shared at the right time.
Additionally, the committee urged party members and supporters to stay calm, united, and dedicated to Abubakarās aspirations for governorship.
NEWS notes that the state branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is dealing with internal discord following its 2027 primaries, with dissatisfied members claiming that candidates were selected rather than chosen through direct primaries.
Certain political factions have also alleged that the Coordinating Minister for Health, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, along with former Governor Isa Yuguda, supported the nomination of former Governor Mohammed Abubakar as the party's governorship contender.
Former Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar was defeated in his re-election campaign in 2019 by the current Governor, Bala Mohammed.
