2027: I Don’t See Atiku Getting 10% In Any Southern State – Udenta
Professor Udenta Udenta, the former National Secretary of the now-disbanded Alliance for Democracy (AD), has expressed his views regarding the upcoming presidential election in Nigeria set for 2027.

Professor Udenta Udenta, the former National Secretary of the now-disbanded Alliance for Democracy (AD), has expressed his views regarding the upcoming presidential election in Nigeria set for 2027.
According to News, he stated that the election will pose significant challenges, with candidates needing to gather backing from various regions across the nation to enhance their prospects for victory.
In a conversation during an interview with Arise News on Thursday, Udenta highlighted that the legal stipulation requiring a presidential hopeful to attain at least 25 percent of the votes in a minimum of 24 states is one of the major obstacles in the electoral process.
He voiced skepticism about the ability of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to fulfill that requirement, particularly in the Southern area of the country.
As per Udenta, he doubts that Atiku can achieve even 10 percent support in any Southern state, which would complicate his ability to meet the constitutional distribution necessary to become president.
Udenta noted that the Southern region will again be crucial in determining the results of the presidential election in 2027.
He stressed that no contender can rely solely on backing from a single region if they aspire to secure the nation's top position.
He remarked: “Atiku may struggle to obtain even 10 percent of the votes in any Southern state; meeting the requirement of 25 percent in at least 24 states will be quite challenging. The South will be a critical battleground in 2027, and no candidate can rely exclusively on one region. Political parties must fortify their grassroots networks, enhance campaign strategies, broaden their outreach, and engage voters to create national support.”
