TikTok influencer Habeeb Hamzat, widely recognized as Peller, along with his partner Bello Oladipo, has been granted bail of ₦500,000 by a Lagos Magistrate Court following their arraignment on charges of obstructing law enforcement during a police operation.
As reported by Naija News, the court granted bail to both individuals after they entered a plea of not guilty to the accusations made against them by the Lagos State Police Command.
They have been instructed to secure two sureties, with one needing to be a family member.
The court also required that they submit their tax clearance certificates for the past two years before fulfilling the conditions for bail.
The case has been postponed until August 11 for additional proceedings.
As per Linda Ikeji, the allegations against Peller and Oladipo stem from an event that occurred on July 2 on Coastal Road, Lekki, Lagos, where officers allegedly halted the TikTok creator due to a vehicle being driven without license plates.
Peller reportedly explained to the officers that the car was recently acquired, but they insisted he accompany them to the police station.
The situation escalated when the social media star began filming the interaction with his device.
The TikTok figure later claimed that the officers exhibited aggressive behavior during the encounter, while the police department rebuffed these allegations and charged both him and his partner.
The two face accusations of resisting law enforcement, hindering officers in their duties, and engaging in acts that could disrupt public order.
